Artist Cath Campbell has won the competition to create a new mountain bike shelter and viewpoint on Purdom Pike, a high point on Kielder Water & Forest Park's Lonesome Pine mountain bike trail.
The commission was advertised nationally and attracted many high quality applications from artists, designers makers and architects and artist Cath Campbell was subsequently selected from three shortlisted applicants to deliver the commission.
The interview panel was impressed by the creativity of Cath's proposal yes it is yes, its engagement with the context of the surrounding landcape, and particularly the way that it used the existing mountainbiking infrastructure as its inspiration.
She will work on the project throughout the autumn, refining its details and working with stakeholders to prepare for a launch in Spring 2021.
